I feel as if a shining light has been extinguished. Peter O’Toole was a brilliant actor, a man of great personal charm, and he will be missed by so many. He was perfection in Lion in Winter, doing a better Henry than Henry himself could have done. His Lawrence of Arabia is a film for the ages. My Favorite Year is one of my own favorite films. R.I.P., Peter.
He'll never be truly gone from us - not as long as we remember his work and I am sure his performances will still be remembered for a very long time. R.I.P. Peter and thank you for all the wonderful moments you gave to us. I for one will miss you dearly.
What a brilliant actor, one of my all time favorites. A friend called me last night to tell me of his passing, knowing how much I admired the man. There are few actors who can so fully become a part that you believe they are the person they portray. RIP Peter.
It's hard for me, too, to read about Henry II, without the image of Peter O'Toole in mind, (No matter what the actual written description may say) None of the obits I've seen have mentioned his role in "The Tudors," which, no matter what you may think of it, would probably be more familiar to many younger folks than his classic performances in the 1960's and 1970's.
When I heard the news I immediately thought of Lion in Winter. Peter and Katherine together - no way to top them in their performances of such opposing passionate personalities. A toast to his life!
He was a wonderful actor and I can't believe that throughout his long career, he never won an Oscar. I great oversight as I loved him in 'The Lion in Winter.'
