Mythborn

Hi Readers,
I've been fascinated by religion. Why do people have faith, and what does faith mean? Now, place faith in a world where belief begets gods (and demons) and you get the idea of Mythborn. Yet, I balance this with a comprehensive science background, and feel everything (magic or science) should follow consistent rules. Imagine a world where no individual is powerful enough to create 'gods', but what about an entire society, and what rules will those beings follow? Will they appreciate the ephemeral existence they are given? How did the Greek gods feel when Rome supplanted their beliefs (if they had been real). Did Zeus go quietly into the night when Jupiter arrived? Mythborn follows the arch of these gods, but through the lens of a kid who doesn't realize he's about to become the anti-hero of a world. I wanted to write about that arch, that of the 'villain' in a world made up of shades of gray.

Melvin Patterson Regarding Mythborn - WOW!!! All I can say is Wow! Having practiced martial arts since I was 10 and having loved the fantasy genre all my life, this book is awesome!

Well done and even more so for a first novel.

V. Lakshman Thank you! I know it's crazy but getting positive feedback is truly appreciated. Wait till you read book 2! I don't want to downplay the effort that went into book 1, but the second book really hits a quality note a few notches higher. I'm 76,000 words written so far so stay tuned, and consider posting a review on Amazon. I'd sincerely appreciate it.

Thank you again,

V. Lakshman

V. Lakshman Saw the review! Thank you!

Curious- who was your favorite character? I hope you don't mind me asking. I'm always curious because I wonder if they come off as distinctly different.

Thanks!

Melvin Patterson Oh, no problem. Kisan was my favorite character. Although Silbane would come in a close second. I liked the Kisan character because she was fierce, yet had a loving heart. She loved Piter a lot and I think that for much of the book that love blinded her to more immediate issues. The same could be said for Silbane as well, as his devotion to Arek had significant consequences for him.

V. Lakshman Very intriguing. Thank you!

Btw as you've guessed, there's no 'right' answer. Very helpful for me because Piter is a character that's easy to love to hate in book 2. I want to maintain Kisan's humanity in all this, because she's the one who is most 'real' in a way. Everyone else has a single-minded focus.

V. Lakshman In any case, thank you.

Melvin Patterson Most welcome. I hope you expand upon Kisan in the next book - maybe give us some more insight into her background, childhood, loves, training, etc. In any event I look forward to the next book!

V. Lakshman Absolutely! I know I'm going to write the scene of Kisan finding the magehunters who killed her family.
