Yep, I’ve never heard of this one, but I like it. The link I found has a map of bookstores that participate in this. [ take your kid to a bookstore day ] I think it’s cool. When I was growing up, I got about five dollars for my allowance, and if I went for the skinny books, I could get two. Every so often, I’d pick up a nice big thick one by Herbert or some other old guy. Then three storefronts down was the public library. Dude, I could take six more home with me. Heaven.
Some might say I had a problem, but I went farther in my mind with those books than most will ever go in real life. Maybe that’s why I love what I do so much. I can just . . . keep going.
P.S. A plea from me. This time of year is really stressful, and I’m getting frustrated as I’m seeing some of it spilling out onto my pages here and at the goodreads forum. I’m the last person to talk about NOT letting people walk all over you. (This is why half my neighbors won’t talk to me.) But these are PRETEND PEOPLE we are arguing about. I’m deleting threads instead of trying to figure out who is bruising whose feelings/egos. Save the righteous anger for the real issues out there.
And if I moderate you, it’s not an attack. The nail that sticks up is the one that gets hammered. Nothing personal. Really.
