Come Chat With Me!

Dreamspinner Chat with Sarah Black

I hope you can come out and chat with me tomorrow at the Dreamspinner Goodreads group. I’ll be publishing Interview Stew, interviews with readers and writers, along with the word collages we made; also free books, discount coupons for Dreamspinner, limerick and haiku contests, and most probably pictures of my dog and kid and new book covers!
The new book, The General and the Elephant Clock of Al-Jazari, means a lot to me, because I believe in the idea that we can all get along. That’s what the book is about, getting along. East and West, Christian and Muslim, Americans and Everybody Else, Men and Women. Write a haiku about this idea—if you agree or disagree- or really, anything else you would like, because I will love you if you can write a haiku!
Limericks should be obscene, and I wasn’t the one who said this! I swear. It was Isaac Asimov. Anyway, can you rhyme elephant-clock? I bet you can! The limerick rhyme scheme is aabba. The winner is going to get an ‘Idaho Spud’, the finest candy to come out of Boise Idaho ever, and it looks like a potato. Check out the Dreamspinner chat for a picture of this amazing treat.
Hope you can join me—Saturday 1100 Boise time.

Candice Frook Sarah, I'm nearly finished w/The General and the Horse-Lord. It's the best thing I've read in a long time. I love your wry sense of humor which you never press. Such a sure hand with that. I loved these sexy older guys; also the nephew ( who reminded me of the houseboy/companion to Julie Harris' character in Reflections in a Golden Eye). Thank you, thank you. Candice

Thank you, Candice! So nice of you to say, and I'm very pleased you like the book. Hugs, Sarah

Noah I wasn't home so I missed the live chat, but I enjoyed reading the comments including the excerpt. I just wanted to say that the Fearless anthology is the first book that I read of yours. I was hooked, and when I finally bought my kindle, I read all your backlist that was available in only ebooks. The best quality of all your stories is that I want to reread them and do. I thought Flamingo was a wonderful little gem.

Thank you again for writing.

Noah

I forgot to mention the Wonderful Life references. I noticed the name Gower in a location-name because I only know that name from Wonderful Life, but thought little about it. When I saw Wainwright I had to think for a minute to remember where I know that from; then the light goes on. Thinking of this story as maybe inspired by that story made the book that much more fun to read.
