WAKE UP AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

I believe that at one point in our lives, if we're lucky enough, we reach a turning point where we WAKE UP and realize that life is not just about us.

I have slowly but surely arrived. A year and a half ago, I said enough is enough and I needed a change. I was strolling through life, like a zombie, I'd wake up in the morning, shower, have my coffee, drive to work, 8 hours later drive home, shower, dinner, watch TV and go to sleep. Only to wake up the next day and do it all over again. That was my life Monday through Friday. My weekends were just as programmed. Saturday cleaning, Sunday laundry. All the while keeping up a constant state of worrying about anything and everything. But somewhere deep inside of me, hidden beneath the noise was the real me trying to come out. Looking back now, I could see glimpse's of the real me even when I was a child.

What do I mean by the "real me" I mean that voice inside of you that lets you know that everything is going to be ok. That voice inside of you that is not sarcastic, that voice that tells you to stop when you're judging others, or when you act like you don't care about the real important issues in the world, like hunger, homelessness, terrorism, wars; basically our world and those who live in it.

Well, that little voice has been calling out to me for  a very long time now and I'm finally ready to listen and to act on what makes me feel good. When I shut out the noise from outside, the TV, the radio, my phone, it all becomes very clear.

I want, no need, to make an impact in this world, I need to do my part, and I only hope that everyone who reads this starts to feel the same. So, aside from trying to change people's lives and encourage them to live their very best life and to not settle for anything other than what makes you feel right,  I've also developed (or perhaps it was always there) a desire to save the earth, the world we live in, so I've decided to go Green.

I'm not exactly sure of all that this entails, but I'm learning. And, I started with a simple and easy change. At the grocery store a chose paper instead of plastic, and soon I will be bringing my own bags.

In the recent tragedy that took the life of Paul Walker, it lead me to an article where he's quoted as saying that every time a tragedy happened, like the tragedy in Haiti, or the most recent one in the Philippines, he always felt like he should be there, helping, and because of this, he started his charity ROWW http://www.roww.org/

I've always felt the same way, and I'm sure if you stop and think about the times when you heard of such tragedies you've thought to of how you could help. I urge you  to not ignore those feelings, this is that little voice inside of you trying to help you be the person you're suppose to be. You should go with that feeling of caring for others and wanting to help, it truly is very rewarding.

So whatever you've got going on in your life at this moment, stop for one second and turn the focus out to the world and find a cause that moves you in some way. Is it hunger in the US or abroad, is homelessness, is it cancer, is it heart disease, is it obesity, is it the earth, is it drugs, is it alcoholism, is it our teens???? Whatever it is, don't just sit back waiting for others to make a difference, you are the difference,  just go for it. You won't regret it.
