So What am I Reading?

I recently discovered Louise Penny. I took my kids to the book store--one of our favorite monthly outings--and came across the novel, How the Light Gets In. It's the latest installment in a mystery series and what I love best about it are: the characters (they each seem to have their own texture); the setting, which is cozy; the pacing--clipped where it needs to be and pausing where the reader likes it; and the mystery is solved without unnecessary violence (so far). So I decided to go back to book one in the series, Still Life . I ordered this one to my Kindle, which is easier to carry around. I'm 32% through the story and am enjoying the read.

You won't find romance in either of the titles I mentioned by Penny, but you will find a good story and characters you wouldn't mind calling friends.
