Sometimes I wish I could go back to how I used to watch movies. Before I knew so much about world building and plot holes and proper character development, before I could see a twist coming two hours away, before I had years of experience surrounding myself in all of the finer bits of story-telling to the point where every single movie I see immediately falls into a handful of tropes that are all painfully obvious. I don’t mean to sound whiny or self-righteous or “I’m so glorious with all of my plot knowledge” (anyone who remembers my first draft of SNOW LIKE ASHES can attest to my utter lack of gloriousness), I just miss seeing a movie for the first time and leaving the theater with that sense of awe. Like I’d just been slapped in the heart with wonder.

Don’t mind me. Just mourning my lost innocence. You know, the usual for a Monday.
