Part II - Coming Soon!

Well guys, the downloading of the first book is coming along nicely and so I thought it might be time for a brief snippet of the next instalment (ETA to be decided) as a way of thanking you all for your continued support. So here are the first few paragraphs from the upcoming short – The Rainbow Connection – Part II: Sex, Lies and DVD Fines.

Lourdes Michelson, with all the class of a dockyard hooker, lifted the icy bottle of Sauvignon Blanc out of the cooler and opened the screw top with her teeth, spitting the metal cap half way across the bistro before filling our glasses with chilled white wine (her own glass holding half the bottle, my own; not so much). With an expression falling somewhere between safety and end-stage orgasm, she gulped an unhealthily large mouthful and sighed. This, my friends, was alcoholism at its best. I thought she might stop at the first sip, but true to form the tiny older woman drained half the glass before looking up and me and smiling.
“Bradshaw,” she started, using a name she had plucked from apparent nowhere, since my surname was Adams. “I called this meeting for a reason.”
I looked around the bistro slowly with calculating, 50’s detective eyes before letting my gaze fall on the clock above the service counter. Oh for God’s sake. It was half past eleven. In the morning. I could still taste mouthwash, it was that early.
“Intervention?” I asked, grinning sheepishly, feigning as best I could an angelic, no judgment look.
“Don’t be a smartass,” she sassed. “If I needed help, you’d be the last person I call.”
“Sorry,” I countered, looking down at my wine glass. Oh hell with it. I took a big sip. The older woman smiled. We were apparently two of a kind.
“No, the reason I called this meeting was to talk about your work.”
Shit.

Keep an eye out for the next part, to be released soon by me via Smashwords. To get a copy of Part I absolutely free, just head to the following link to download it in a range of formats:
