Jim McLeod of Ginger Nuts of Horror is reporting that author Joel Lane “passed in his sleep” last night. He was 50.
A two-time British Fantasy Award winner, as well as the Shirley Jackson Award, Lane was a well-respected and well-liked writer of not only dark fantasy and horror, but more mainstream works, as well. His works included The Blue Mask, The Lost District and Other Stories, From Blue to Black, and Do Not Pass Go. He also edited Beneath the Ground, and the anthologies Birmingham Noir (with Steve Bishop) and Never Again (with Allyson Bird).
