Musings on Descriptions

It seems to me, if its an ordinary thing, you can skip long descriptions. i.e., ancient dusty book will do just fine, you don’t have to describe the exact quantity or exact color of book, or how many cracks it has in its binding.*

But if it is something unusual, that the audience hasn’t seen before, then you should amp up the descriptions.

*One caveat…if your description is funny, I think you can leave it in.
