Write - My advice to writers
This is a short blog piece I did for Storm chaser's blog. The theme was advice for writers as the title suggests. For those looking for my usual erotic story, sorry to disappoint, but don't fret, one is coming soon. You can always go back and read all my previous posts.
Write. Just write. But write from the heart. It’s my advice for writers. Let the passion for your idea come out and captivate people. I hear about writers talking about how many words or pages they wrote and goals they set for themselves to write. Instead, I say write the best story you can and don’t worry about how long or short it is (unless you’re getting paid by the word, then the more the better, lol)
It’s a writer’s job to communicate the story or idea through words. Create a picture for our readers. So take the time to describe the scene, situation, feelings of the characters using adjectives, adverbs and other parts of our English language that help bring the story to life and help our readers get lost in our books. The best example I can think of is J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series. I read every book of the series and as the movies came out, it all looked just like what I thought it would. Why? Because of how she described it all. And yes I realize the movie people used computers and built sets, however, those set creators knew what it should look like because of her descriptions.
Write. Let the story be what it is. Don’t reach. When you start reaching or pushing for pages or word counts, the integrity of the story suffers. Write about great characters who are interesting and your story, book, or what every you’re writing will be good. Movies with great acting performances don’t need special effects to hold the audience’s attention. Another example is Adele’s live performances. She doesn’t do anything but stand on stage, but she captivates you with her singing.
Write, Just write. But write from the heart.
