Permission to suck (or…why I love writing first drafts)

Ava Jae had a fantastic post about first drafts today, and it got me to thinking about why I love the first draft process, when so many other writers seem to break out in hives at the mere thought of them.

I know a lot of writer friends who prefer the editing process to the first draft one. And while I can’t argue with the results (it’s definitely true when they say the magic happens in revision), it’s about as fun to me as a dental exam is.
