I celebrated the Independence of the United States of America today by reading the first five books of Canadian Bryan Lee O'Malley's Scott Pilgrim series of manga-sized and -influenced graphic novels. Altogether, the story is one of a loser post-adolescent, so it is fairly standard for graphic novels, except that the novel is something of a science fiction action-adventure romantic comedy.
