The Great Heist Released

I just released my latest book The Great Heist, which is about the largest cash bank robbery in history, which took place on September 17, 1930 in my home town of Lincoln, Nebraska.

On the morning of the 17th, a group of six men rushed the bank with pistols and Tommy guns. The people in the bank thought it was a joke, but were soon corrected. When someone escaped and called the police, they, too, thought it was a joke, until they found the lookout standing at the corner with a Tommy gun.

The bandits got away with 2.7 million dollars. A national search found nothing for a long time, but eventually it was found out that some of the gangsters had been the same men who pulled off the St. Valentine's Day Massacre. Al Capone got involved, and arranged that all the money be returned.

Three men who were not the bank robbers were arrested and two of them were convicted and served 25 years in prison. The county attorney knew they had not committed the crime, but he believed he had to put someone behind bars for the crime, and the men he had arrested were bank robbers, just not THESE bank robbers. The Great Heist - The Story of the Biggest Bank Robbery in History: And Why All the Money Was Returned
