The Good Stuff...
You know that cozy, happy feeling you get when you walk by kids playing in the street or schoolyard? They're shooting hoops or playing street hockey or just hanging out and having a good time?
That's happy nostalgia for a time when you were as carefree.
Then you feel happy anticipation when you go to a movie with superb actors and writing and you just know you're going to have a very good time. You sit back, relax and let the story sweep you away.
That's how I felt the other day when I finished my writing and found that my dh was fixing doors. He had to keep opening and closing them and bringing in cold, autumn air.
He suggested I go back into my office and shut the door.
Yeah, nope. I made a cup of tea, and pulled out two sofa throws and dug through my TBR pile with that sense of happy anticipation. That doesn't happen to us every day.
I looked at the throws, my tea and my book pile and grinned, feeling joy at the prospect of being left alone to read, cozied up under the throws with a tea at my elbow.
I settled in with Anthea Lawson's debut novel, Passionate. My happy anticipation took flight with the first line and I knew in my bones that I was in for a great read.
After a few minutes, I came here to Goodreads to read other reviews and was shocked to find there weren't any.
This will change.
When I'm finished Passionate, I'll post a review ... and will pass along my thoughts on this very entertaining novel.
I'd love to hear which authors and/or books give you that same feeling I enjoyed the other day.
It's such fun to discover new authors!Anthea Lawson
