What if we're wrong about indie publishing?A lot of us -- and I roll my self up in that gross generalization -- view indie publishing as either substitutive or complimentary to traditional publishing. More to the point, today's "traditional" publishing deals look a lot like "indie" publishing, so the distinction is blurring.
But that's not disruptive or all that innovative. That's natural and obvious progression.
So what
is disruptive an innovative in the space. Book sprints? Maybe. Publishing automation? Sure. Lean publishing? Probably. In-browser books? OK. And a lot more.
In all this uncertainty, there are two things I know:
1. Disruptive forces won't rip apart trad-indie (new word) publishing anytime soon, so keep on keepin' on if that is where your comfort lies.
2. I'm already bored with trad-indie and am moving on. Let's break some shit and see what happens.
