I loved you from the very first moment

that I saw you. But that didn’t mean

that you and I were meant

to be together.

Just because everyone around you

tells you that it’s not true love,

doesn’t mean that it isn’t.

Because when I saw you for first time,

I knew that I would go on questioning

whether or not you would love me too.

They should have told you

that being in love doesn’t always mean happy,

and that if you can find someone

who can tolerate you more than you

can tolerate yourself,

well that is someone worth holding.

But it’s been years since you last said

that you loved me and meant it.

And when you said that my love for you

was more than you could handle,

I should have known that what you meant

was that everything that I once thought was true,

was always the wrong answer.
