The Most Important Rule in Publishing

is …

The Money Flows To The Author.

If you’ve sold a book and money isn’t flowing to you, something is wrong.

If you are thinking of selling a book and you are being asked to pay money, something is wrong.

If someone says they want to buy your book, but first you need to front some money, something is wrong.

It can be tempting if you hear someone flattering your writing to do whatever they say. But don’t sign anything on first offer. Always say you need to take some time to think it over. And then go back to the first rule of publishing. If you’re signing something that doesn’t bring money to you either immediately or at least eventually, you are doing it wrong. You don’t pay to get published.
