Working Girl 4: Tell Me All About It by Polly J AdamsSo how does a well brought-up girl from a good small-town family end up in a big city relationship with a man who would do anything for her, and who was rarely more happy than when he was hearing about what she does with other men?

Working Girl: One woman’s journey from small-town virgin to high-class hooker for the rich and powerful. From the bestselling author of The Billionaires’ Sex Club and The Wings of Desire.

“I don’t know. I don’t even pretend to understand it. It does my head in if I think about it for too long.”

Beth’s cousin Joanna sat at the other end of the long sofa, knees tucked up to her chin, her hands cradling a steaming mug of hot chocolate. It was their thing from when they were kids on shared vacations: PJs, hot chocolate and an old movie.

“Is he hurting you? Do you want out?”

Beth shook her head.

“Then don’t overwork your brain on it, then,” said Joanna.

“But… But what kind of guy takes his girl to a club so he can watch her with other men?”

“You telling me you didn’t enjoy that?” Joanna was shaking her head. “From what you told me about it all, you seemed quite happy to take the lead. People go to places like that because they can separate things out. They go there to fuck other people. Don’t look so shocked at me, babe. It’s what they do. It’s what you did. Hell, I know the place you mean. It’s a nice crowd. They’re good people. If on the one hand you’ve got seedy, then that place is way off the other end of the scale.”

“You know the club? You’ve been there?”

Joanna had always lived in the city. She’d always been the one with high tales of expensive living and indulgence, but… There was so much to Joanna that Beth now realized she didn’t know.

Joanna shrugged. “I know my way around this city, babe,” she said. “I’ve worked in all kinds of places, and that club’s just one of them. Nothing wrong with people having fun and exploring.”

“But it’s like I’m changing into a completely different person. There’s this whole new side to me. I keep asking myself if it’s bad that I’m really turned on by the kind of thing that would have shocked me stupid only a few weeks ago. And now I’m in a relationship that breaks every rule there ever was.”

“And you’re having fun, right?”

“I–”

“Hell, Beth: I haven’t seen you this happy since you were a little girl with pig-tails. You’re not getting hurt and you’re not hurting anyone. You’ve got yourself a man who’d do anything for you. You’re having a ball, Beth. Just keep on doing what it is that’s making you so happy, okay?”

Relationships. Love. Sex.

It kept on going round and round in her head. She couldn’t help herself. Much as she knew Joanna’s words were sensible, Beth couldn’t help but worry.

All this… it wasn’t normal. You don’t read a love story about a guy who likes to share his girl around and somehow that’s a sign of his love. The world wasn’t like that.

Or at least, Beth’s world hadn’t been like that before she went to work for Bill Grady.
