"I don't want to be a pie! I don't like gravy."

I've been making such good progress with editing I haven't felt like stopping - for anything. I only eat because my family and John makes me. I barely waste time in the mornings to get dressed and would wear my pajamas all day if I didn't have work and school. (As it is, I've been throwing on the baggest clothing I have. I for some reason find it easier to edit if I'm wearing clothes ten sizes too big. Probably because they are like pajamas without actually being pajamas.) And sleep? Well, I never sleep, so no loss there. I've been re-reading Haphazard, then I have to go over Abolished one more time being sending it in and getting a paperback copy. You know, after I get a cover.
But, I am not posting today to talk about editing. I do that enough as it is. Today I am going to begin some character posts, about the characters who will be in my NaNo book.
First I will start with probably the most loved character I've ever written. I don't know what it is about him, but it seems the moment girls hear of him or read about him they fall in love with him. (For me personally, I couldn't stand him for the longest time. I even killed him once, but had to bring him back when my life was threatened. Doyle, anyone? {Okay, not threatened, but close enough.}) We get along better now, but I don't think we'll ever be the best of friends.

Maddock: Age Eighteen. Dark red hair, green eyes. Tall, wide shoulders, it has been the popular belief for about four years that he looks a lot like Peter from Prince Caspian. I tend not to argue with his fan girls so I will just say, sure, why not? Maddock is the second oldest of two boys, and an adopted sister. He's a shepherd, but not by choice. He likes inventing things and is good at it, though what it is he invents I'm not really sure yet. (The book is one of the Fantasy/ Steampunk ones I've taken a liking to, so it gives us options.)  Not only does he dislike being a shepherd, he hates sheep. Especially his sheep. (They have been referred to as his sheepies for about as long as he's been around, the product of a bunch of giggly girls and not enough sleep. I had to incest that into the book and in it it is his sister to dubs them that. I had to explain because it feels wrong to call them his sheep. They are and always shall be Maddock's sheepies.) The only reason he's a shepherd is because his father was and therefore all of the sons have to be, by order of the king. It is supposed to be a help to the kingdom but it just a way for the king to keep rich. He appoints jobs that are in his best interest.  Maddock's father was taken by the king when Maddock wasn't very old. His family doesn't know if he's dead or alive, but Maddock has resented the king since and wants to do something to fight him. Maddock is also brilliant. (I just did some bad writing there, mentioning his name at the beginning of so many sentences. Just pretend it didn't happen.) But he hides his genius well behind a wild sense of humor. He is always joking, about everything, all the time. He is rarely serious and has a bad habit of mocking the king's soldiers when he fights them. (But, being his author, I know he uses it to hide all of his sadness. He misses his dad, he's worried about his family, and he's certain his best friend is going to die - so he laughs it all away and pretends everything is okay until things get so bad he has to face it.)
So, that is Maddock. Now I have to go, because I don't have anything else to say.
Quote is from Chicken Run, because I am never too busy in life to find a way to squeeze that line into every day conversation. Scottish accent and all. (Or....British. I get so mixed up in that movie I forget who has what accent, and it has been way too long since I've seen it.)
 Allons-y!
