At forty or so pages, this is quite a short read, but hot, hot, HOT, all the same. In my honest opinion, and it sounds weird, but there’s too much sex. For the first part of a series, (the Torn series) I’d have liked to get to grips with Serena and Max’s characters. Ayers does place some intriguing snippets here and there, especially from Max’s point of view, but I’d like to know more. I get that it’s erotica, but from start to finish, it’s the lifestyle and Serena reveling in it. And while that’s great, I think I’d like to know more about Serena and why she’s actually entered the world of BDSM, when it’s so out of her safety zone. But I guess that’s going to come with each part that is released.

This is sex, at its finest. Well-written, creative. I expected hardcore BDSM from the cover art, but it wasn’t. Sure, there was some BDSM play and obviously this is leading on to a more hardcore Dom/sub lifestyle, but it wasn’t offputting. I didn’t appreciate Max’s calling Serena ‘slut’. I know, I know, it’s part of the scene. But I just didn’t like it. Especially as the sex wasn’t the aforementioned hardcore BDSM. It seemed derogatory… weird, I guess. Maybe that’s just me.

As the novella’s title suggests, this is good fodder for you know what! But for a one-off read, I need a bit more punch. However, fair do’s. Easily deserves 4 stars.
