Thanks for the movie tip. I went to netflix thinking I could add it, but the movie is evidently too recent. Will watch for it. Also, thanks for highlighting the distinction between moral and indecorous. It’s a distinction a lot of people, writers included, don’t get. Kinda reminds me of a black friend from back in the day explaining the difference between being racist and prejudiced. My latest novel, which I consider moral fiction, contains indecorous behavior on the part of several characters. One eventually turns his life around, making the book ultimately uplifting. However, I have had a few ‘conservative’ folks read it and some, not all, cannot get past the ‘indecorous ‘ parts. Too bad… for them. Best!
BTW, I drove to the next town to see Don Jon. There were five people in the theater, two couples and myself (I'm divorced and looking). Anyway, one couple walked out, not being able to sit through the 'indecorous' parts. The other couple laughed a lot at the film, as I did. Although I think this is an important film, I think its appeal will be mainly (or should be) to young men who have been led astray by our dominant 'garbage culture' to become addicted to porn. I think there are much better movies about 'players' and the objectivization of women, such as the Jude Law, I think, remake of Alfie. Rent the remake of Alfie. It's wonderful.
