The Return of the Spartans is the continuation of the story of the Peloponnesian Wars begun in John Burton’s The Myth of Sparta. The books are highly enjoyable as well as informative. I refer to my review of Myth for more detail. Suffice it to say here that the myth was Spartan invincibility and, as the title Return implies, the Spartans as a whole and one in particular make a bounce back in this book. The books should be read in order.
