October 12, 2013: There Is No Triceratops

File this under E, for "Everything in your childhood was wrong". Just like Pluto is no longer a planet, apparently the triceratops never really existed. Scientists now think the creature we referred to as "triceratops" was actually the young version of the torosaurus, another three-horned, frill-sporting saurian. Their reaction has, of course, been to reclassify all triceratops and taurosaurs as triceratops. Move along, nothing more to see here.
