Writer’s Block, Steampunk, and NANOWRIMO – or Help, I’m Stuck!
You want to write. You want to write Science Fiction, Fantasy, or Steampunk. But you’re stuck. Call it Writer’s Block, Outlining Troubles, Character Issues, World Creation Fail, or OMG it’s NaNoWriMo time again and I haven’t written a word. Call it whatever you want but there’s only one way to change from Casual
Fan to Writer to Author – you must write.
Let’s talk about the Steampunk/SciFi/Fantasy genre, gather some ideas, learn some great tricks of the trade, and get you moving. This is a combination workshop and lecture. I’ll share some of the lessons I’ve learned, help you develop a scene and some characters, and you will get to write. Those with a brave streak may get to read their opening paragraph to the class.
Please bring a notebook, pen or pencil (crayon if you prefer,) paper, and even a laptop (limited plug in space, so charge your battery at home.)
Stay for the book signing! T.E. MacArthur will have her books available for purchase and signing from 4:30-6:00 p.m. The book signing is open to the public–come by and meet the author!
As they are still working on The Hub downstairs, an email confirmation will be sent to each registered student with the exact location of each class held at the Odd Fellows Lodge. The lodge is located at 342 Georgia Street, Vallejo CA 94591. There is street parking as well as a lot behind the lodge building. On Saturday mornings the Vallejo Farmers Market is open from 9-1, parking will be unavailable on Georgia Street at that time.
