"Can you ride a motorbike?" "I expect so. it's that sort of day."
I was sick all day with the flu, so I spent the whole time in bed, drowning my fever in tea and watching TV. I'd have tried orange juice as well but I roasted the top of my mouth the other day sipping hot tea through a straw. Not my brightest moment.
I am not feeling very random at the moment, which doesn't happen often while I'm editing - as you may have guessed by now. If anything, I think I am feeling a little sulky...or maybe it is a lot. It kind of happens every time I get to this certain part in my book.
NaNo is now only three weeks away - I actually thought it was closer than that. I've been working on my outline for about a month now, if not longer. Every time we have journaling in English class I scribble down plot ideas or snippets.
I finally decided which book I'll be doing. I wasn't sure if I was going to be revealing anything about it, but half the fun of NaNo is knowing what everyone is writing and them knowing what I'm writing.
I've been working on this book for years, literally. I've re-written it ten times at least. I've re-plotted it. I've fought with the characters and even ended up killing one of the heroes - he later pulled a Rory and since then has been well behaved.
I love everything about the plot, but it is so complex and full of so many twists and turns it often leaves be behind, buried in the dust, panting to catch up. This time, thanks to my dear Mycroft - now I've got you all picturing a pastry loving, umbrella carrying, book helper - I have a plan and I think I might be able to safely say this will be the final draft. I hope so, because I kind of never want to re-write this book again. Ever.
It also means it might be one of the next books I publish, if all goes well.
I'll be going into more details the closer it gets to NaNo. I might even tell all of you the whole story behind the book, but it is long and might be boring, so maybe not. I will reveal the characters, title, and summery. Maybe starting the week after next.
Right now I have five chapters of edits to add to Abolished, then I am done with this stage of editing. After this I will go back and re-read book one to make sure there are no inconsistencies between the two books, then I will go over the last bit of edits before sending it in for my proof copy. And sometime in there I need to get the cover done.
What about all of you? How many of you are doing NaNo? Do you have your plots yet? If so, what will you be writing about?
I used an Amy and Rory quote, because everything is better with an Amy and Rory quote. It is from Let's Kill Hitler.
Allons-y!
