The A - Z of Writing Jargon - A is for:

Many moons ago. I had a blog entitled "Write First Time" designed for newbie writers, explaining a lot of the jargon we come across when we first start out.

ACTIVE

As in active voice rather than passive voice. This is regarded as the ideal form of expressing an action as it conveys the action in a more vivid form. It uses the astice form of the verb rather than the passive one...
