How to Run an R2R Group on Facebook

I felt this was only necessary since I just went on my little rant >.>

Running a Read 2 Review group on facebook isn’t that hard. So long as you do everything necessary to ensure it runs smoothly.

1) Pick a catchy name for your group. You want your name to stand out and draw attention to the goodies you alone possess that’s different from the millions of other groups on facebook

2) In the about section, place a detailed description of what your group offers.. Things like “free books in exchange for reviews” won’t cut it unless you don’t care what authors post their information. If your group is specifically for the pimping of a certain author or authors, this too needs to be put in the about section, that is what the section is for.

3) Rules. All groups need them to avoid unnecessary drama and confusion. This is typically placed in 1 of 2 places. 1) a file in the files section of the group. or 2) a permanent pinned post in the group. Rules should once again state who the pimping is for. If it’s for all authors state that, if it’s for only authors of a certain publishing or promotional company, state that too. This avoids any unwarranted spamming from outside authors.

4) If you opt to not have your rules stated where everyone can see them, then tossing an outside author from the group will make you look bad. Calling their book “spam” and tossing them from the group makes you look incompetent and maybe even a little less intelligent than the rest of the human race, since well, if you don’t have rules listed, how can someone break them?

5) If you erroneously remove someone from your group for breaking some unknown rule, when it’s pointed out to you that they didn’t know and that our group is lacking rules anywhere on it, an apology would most assuredly gain you some brownie points. At least with an apology you would be acknowledging that you’ve made an error and are sorry for it. Ignoring the person you wronged however can and probably will result in your group losing some face value, as well making you look like an ass for making a mistake and not owning up to it.

Follow these simple steps and your R2R group on Facebook is sure to be a huge success!
