AN UNTOLD WANT
As if being born into a family of witches in a small Georgia town isn’t enough to brand her a social pariah, Maggie MacAllister came home from college with a PhD, baby Liz, and no husband. In the fifteen years since, she has allowed the Jacob’s Creek campaign of whispers to mold her life into a wretched existence.
Even though Maggie sees herself as rational, even scientific, she still attempts to impose logic on a situation of legendary proportions, the MacAllister family curse, but try as she might, a stroll through the family cemetery is proof enough that any man who loves a MacAllister woman dies in the prime of his life. Maggie commits to being single, but when her sixteen year old daughter, Liz, nearly dies from a self-administered abortion, Maggie is thrown together with JD Seaborne, an attractive, younger man with a teenage daughter, Desi, and psychological ghosts of his own. Despite striving to protect JD from both the curse and the neighbors’ censure by pushing him away, they become emotionally, spiritually, and eventually physically entangled.
ABOUT SARA STARK:
What can I say? Writing is an acceptable form of schizophrenia.
Sara Stark is Nellie Williamson’s alter ego. Nellie grew up on a farm outside a small town in middle Georgia, but having been married to a Navy man for nearly fifteen years (and now divorced, thank goodness), she has lived in most parts of the US at one time or another.
Nellie has spent the past twenty-three years in the crazy and demanding world of Corporate America. So when the morass of making a living got boring, as a creative outlet, she took up writing fiction, and Sara emerged. Nellie still lives in Corporate America, at least until Sara publishes more.
Their current home is in Seattle, Washington, and Nellie has certificates from the University of Washington in Literary and Popular Fiction and has attended three writers’ retreats. Her novel, An Untold Want (also referred to as Counting Crows), was also a finalist in the Mainstream Literary Contest at the 2012 Pacific Northwest Writers’ Association (PNWA) Conference.
