The hunt for a good Android smartphone

Help a guy out, will ya?
I'm usually wonderfully quick at making wrong choices in my life but luckily that doesn't extend to purchases. So I'm on the lookout for a new Android mobile (sorry, iPhone fans... I just don't like certain limitations of IOS) and I want your inputs on what to get.

First of all, my prime needs: (In decreasing order)

Screen between 4-5 inches. Not an inch more, not an inch less.A good body.  - Pretty much rules out the plastic-y feel of Samsung.Decent bat...
