She's the "Syria expert" who turned out
to have lied about having a Ph.D. Got it. She shouldn't have lied. And
for that she deserves defenestration.
But I think we as a society are too
hung up on credentials. Academics tend to treat a doctorate like a union card.
But there are many fools with doctorates, and some very wise people without
them, but with lots of experience and academic knowledge. The questions we
should be asking are: Does what this person have to say make sense? Do they
know what they are talking about?
