{Update} 3 Changes coming to my website

I know that I just did this a few months back and you’re all probably tired of hearing it, but I thought I’d give you the heads up. There are changes coming. All of them good changes. Most were changes that I couldn’t have accomplished a few months back. Others were requests for changes that came from some of you.

For those who participated in my request for feedback, thank you. Anyone who missed it and wants to let me know what they like and hate about this website, go for it! I loved the feedback and even agreed with it on all accounts.

1) Separate Sites

A few months back I combined all my websites and then sectioned them off into their own parts. There was the main section, the book section, and the portfolio section. Some of them interlinked as they shared pages that I really didn’t feel like duplicating. Apparently this caused some confusion and there were two requests that I separate the websites again.

The “argument” for doing so are valid and thanks for the insight. I will not be making them separate sites, but isolated sections. Meaning that the Portfolio and book sections will be cut off from each other. There will be a like in the about section of each that will point to the other, but not in the main menu.

This will be the first change and I’ve already started it, though you won’t see the change for a little bit yet as I’m working on pages that were being used by both sections.

2) Blogging Schedule & Articles

It’s not changing much from my post the other day about it. I’m sticking with a two day a week schedule, but rather than one being on the business of writing and publishing, both days will be book related. Everything dealing with my writing projects and publishing of my books will be on the blog or book section. Everything relating to the business of writing, publishing, and design or how to articles will be pages on the portfolio section. Hope that makes sense. A mailing list will be created for the portfolio side that will send the how to articles to your inbox if you so desire.

3) My Online Store

I’ve been debating how to set up my shop and with the division of the site the decision was easier. Writer related books, printables, and fun collectables (I have a few designs for coffee mugs that I want to create that I think some of you will like) will be in the portfolio section of the website while the fiction (romance and general fiction), fiction related printables, downloads, and freebies will be in the book section of the site. There are a few item types that I have planned for the next year that might be added to one or the both shops.

I’m a little worried about how this might work with the plugin I’m using for the moment. The reason I’m not splurging on a more expensive store plugin, is that I can’t test them beforehand and I know it will take more than a week to know if the store will make enough money to make something more expensive worth the cost.

I’m happy with the store plugin I did find (tested six other lite versions from different places) so I’m starting to put the store together. The first item up so far is My Lord Hades. As I learned the other day, it takes a whole day to format, check, and create the ZIP files with the epub, kindle, and pdf formats in it.) If you have any other suggested formats that I overlooked I’d love to know.) So I’m choosing one book a week to work on as I have other work that needs to be done for the moment.

__________

So there it is in a nutshell. All the change you can expect this month. Now I’m going to get back to writing Death’s Lover. Thanatos is about to get a very interesting proposition from a girl. :D
