Learning Curve is on Amazon

Just a quick update to say that Learning Curve (Life Lessons, #4) by Kaje Harper Learning Curve - Life Lessons Book 4 is now available on Amazon; You can find it here on Amazon - US. Release on other vendor sites, including All Romance ebooks, should be later in the month.

I want to say thanks to everyone who bought the book directly from MLR Press already, or plans to buy there - it feels like a compliment that you moved fast to get it, and it gives both myself and the publisher almost twice as much in royalties. But I know there are downsides to going directly to each publisher - for those who like the convenience of Amazon, with their one-click and back-ups/cloud, it's now available :)

Fritz42 Are there plans for it to be available on B&N?

Yes, definitely. I'm not sure when it will show up there. MLR uploads to Amazon right away, because over 80% of our sales come from there. The other retailers are done a bit later - they are trying to encourage people to buy directly from MLR, because we get 40-60% more royalties on a direct sale. But it will definitely be up within a month, I'm just not sure what the current delay time is.

Viola Not to criticize a writer or a small publisher for trying to make a living - I know you and MLR are doing the best you can - but I'll buy from direct a publisher, from B&N, or from ARE, but I won't buy books from Amazon. They have a nasty habit of dropping "controversial" GLBT gay books (when similar het titles go untouched) and in addition, if they decide you've breached their TOS, they can permanently wipe out your entire library, with no appeal possible. Again, none of this your fault, but they're just a crappy place to buy books.

I'm not a fan of Amazon either (and actually don't buy from them) but I can't argue with the fact that I get more than 80% of my sales through them. I wish that the market wasn't such a monopoly, especially to a giant company that likes to throw its weight around, but refusing to sell through them would be a devastating financial decision, unfortunately.

Sherry F Kaje, do you know when Learning Curveswill be available at ARe?

The last book I had from MLR Press, they waited about 4 weeks before putting it on ARe. I'm guessing that's still the policy.

*sets alarm to remind herself of shopping*

I really wish they'd put them up straight away, all this does is making me forget to buy a book I want

Sherry F Thanks, Kaje!

All these decisions about what will bring the best sales for a book... It's a reason I admire self-pub people. For now, I leave it to the publishers to make the call. It never hurts to contact the pubs and let them know where you want to see their books though. Thanks for putting my book on your list anyway, and I will try to update when it shows up on the other vendors.

Wow, really :) The pub must have changed policy - that's great.

jagr9563 I don't know how I missed this!! I LOVE this series. (Well, I love anything Kaje writes - but this series in particular!) Off to MLR to get it. :)

Aw, thanks - I hope you like this wrap up. (Although various spin offs with glimpses of the guys are possible. Walter/Lulu in particular is nagging me for a romance.)

jagr9563 :) YAY... I'm sure I'll love it. It's now next on my tbr list. :)

YAY! *throws confetti* With Hanson, right? Pleasepleaseplease... *puppy-dog eyes*

Also, maybe Oliver and Ramsey? You said "various spin offs" and you rejected my idea for Jack, so... *fingers crossed* *more puppy-dog eyes*

And can I say "I told you so" yet? That this is the best book in the series and that everyone will love it and that awesome as it already was, it needed that extra chapter? ;p

Kaje Harper LOL - you were right of course. Guys, Jess made me do the previous-case wrap-up (view spoiler) chapter, just so you know. I mumbled about not happing that fast in real life, but she was right. It was needed for closure. (She's both a great beta and my best cheerleader; even if I don't know if Hanson is even gay, let alone the guy for Walter...)

message 17: by Jess (new)

Jess Candela I never said Hanson was gay, but I could totally see him as bi... But I'll be happy to get Walter/Lulu's story regardless of who the HEA turns out to be with. :)

I'm just glad he's on the list. And that you're so prolific.

Matthew Do you know the names of the book cover models who represent Tony and Mac?

message 29: by Kaje (new)

Kaje Harper Matt wrote: "Do you know the names of the book cover models who represent Tony and Mac?"

No idea - I haven't searched for that information. The pictures for most M/M books are taken from stock photo sites like Dreamstime, Thinkstock, CanStock, rather than individual photographers' sites. The "Tony" guy has a ton of good pictures available, and appears everywhere, from covers to dental office ads to Walmart. The "Mac" guy has tons of idiosyncratic pictures. Stock pictures are bought with the right to use them for up to a fixed number of times (usually high) but not exclusive so anyone else can use the same picture.
