The Dark Elements
This has been an exciting week for the Dark Elements. MTV Hollywood Crush revealed the cover for White Hot Kiss, and yesterday, Harlequin Teen revealed the cover for Bitter Sweet Love.
Bitter Sweet Love is a novella and is a prequel that takes place a few years before White Hot Kiss kicks off. You can expect a lot of romance in BSL (for short) and WHK (for short). While BSL and WHK are appropriate for readers of YA, BSL does straddle the line between YA and New Adult.
I love seeing this covers side by side. *claps happily*
Now I’m super excited to introduce you to the models hired for the cover shoots. These are the models portraying Layla and Roth. Once the cover for the second book is revealed, you’ll get to meet the hotness that is Zayne.

The moment I was showed who was cast for Layla, I knew this was our girl. She had that look–that beautiful but different look. As the art director has said (who is awesome btw!), she has the perfect blend of vulnerability and fierceness. Layla is the poster child for don’t judge a person by how they look.
What can I tell you about Layla? She’s a different character for me. While she has the snark of Alex and Katy, she is a tad more vulnerable due to her upbringing and what she is. My beta readers have claimed that Layla has some of the best internal dialogue lines. She, like my other characters, likes to string words together. She loves all things sugar and OJ. Actually she needs those things to survive. Layla is pretty awkward, but she knows how to fight and is willing to throw herself in the mix. She also has a thing for Big Macs.
Hawks (a.k.a. Roth)

Well, hello there….
When I saw him, I was thinking smack on a snake tattoo and call it a day. We have our demon boy Roth. He’s got the intensity of Roth down like nothing else. Not to mention, his real name is Hawks, and this is just uber cool.
What can I tell you about Roth? Besides the fact that all my earlier readers have said they want to have demon babies? Which, by the way, just sounds all kinds of inappropriate. He has some one liners that… well, are so Roth. As some of you know, I wrote WHK back in 2011 and I based Daemon Black (from the Lux series) off of Roth when I’d shelved WHK. That alone should give you an indication of what you’re dealing with. Of course, Daemon eventually turned into his own character, but Roth was my original “bad boy” doing lots of bad things. Roth’s not a douche canoe like *cough* DB *cough* but he’s basically walking and talking sin. He’s covered in tattoos… special tattoos… and he’s pierced in, um, more than one location. He also likes to hum and has a thing for Disney character names.
Roth & Layla
He laughed softly. “Deflection doesn’t work on demons.”
“Then I guess I’ll just have to try biting again.”
Something flared in his golden eyes, brightening them. “You wanna try?” He leaned in again, his lips brushing the curve of my cheek. “But let me suggest more appropriate places. I have this piercing—”
“Stop!” I lurched my head to the side. “Now I can pervert to stalker and demon.”
“I have no regrets over any of those titles.”
Gargoyles (a.k.a. Wardens)
Yes. There are gargoyles in this book. Tons of gargoyles. And they are not a secret. Humans are very much aware of them. And I can’t wait for you to see them. *GRINS*
