Critique: How to give it and how to take it

I’ve been meaning to start up Writer Wednesday posts for a while now, but something always came up. So today, I put it at the top of my to-do list (well, sort of at the top…there were only about seven things ahead of it) and here it is, my first Writer Wednesday post.
