A candle is quenched

A beautiful eulogy to a great poet, Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney, who died yesterday. If we are all candles, his burned as brightly as the sun, a light we can ill afford to lose.

Iset Sorry to hear this Sharon. I remember studying Seamus Heaney for English Literature A Levels (the age 18 qualification here in the UK). I still have the essay files on my computer. We read his Death of a Naturalist collection, and I focused on the well-known "Heaneyspeak" - the richness of language that Heaney was known for. I think Blackberry Picking was my favourite of his poems.

Leila I too studied some of this great poet's works Sharon when taking English Literature in the second year of my Humanities degree. His light will be sadly missed as you say.
