Cakewalk, Day Twenty-Nine: Colorful Characters
Welcome to DAY TWENTY-NINE of my August Cakewalk, where I’m celebrating the release of my latest romantic comedy, “The Icing on the Cake.” The cake I’m sharing today was my first carousel cake. I made it for a baby shower (for a baby boy). I loved putting together the colors on the various animals. That was my favorite part! Oh, and I had a lot of fun doing the flowers at the bottom, too. As you can see, I went a little crazy with the colors there, too!
If I had it all to do over again, I would change a few things. I would situate the animals above the cake on longer poles. Still, this wasn’t bad for a first attempt. The colorful cake was whimsical and I know the mommy-to-be enjoyed it. (So did the grand-mommy-to-be, who is one of my dearest friends.)
If you’ve read “The Icing on the Cake” you know that Scarlet has a l-o-t of colorful characters in her life. Aunt Willy, for instance. And Hannah. And Bella. And Armando. Add to this, the fact that she’s next door to Parma John’s, where all of the colorful people hang out. Talk about a kaleidoscope!
What about you? Is your world filled with colorful people? Instead of complaining about them, just turn them into characters for your next book! Oh, you’re not a writer, you say? No problem. Just enjoy my characters. Get a copy of Scarlet’s story and dive right in. I promise, a rainbow of color awaits!
