A Life With Joy + A Little R & R Wednesdays - a linky party

Every once in a while you happen upon a post that touches your heart in a deep way.  It makes you chuckle softly and then cry a little.  And by the end of the article you feel like you know the characters personally and intimately. In this case, I do know the characters personally.  I had the distinct privilege of having them in my Sunday School class when they were little and watch them grow up into beautiful women - and the sweet girl in the story forever made a lasting impression on me. I will never forget her for as long as I live.

When I finished reading Tiffany's post, I knew I had to share it with you all! If you have a special needs child, you will relate to this story very well.  I have chosen to only share a excerpt of the story with you because I want to also acquaint you with Tiffany and her blog My Story (so far). I hope you will click over and read the remainder of the post.  You will not be sorry.

So with no further ado:

"A few short weeks after my first birthday we welcomed a new addition to the family. Her name was Joy. Born like other babies, she cried, she slept and messed her diaper. Little did my parents know that her brain was not like other babies. At age 2, Joy was still not walking or talking. After a lot of testing, doctors said she may never walk or talk, she would be a burden.

At age 5 Joy walked just fine and did what she could to communicate. We all learned basic sign language, which helped but only a little bit. She did a lot of grunting, pointing and crying. We all got frustrated trying to communicate. But I think it was hardest on Joy.

Doctors told my parents that Joy will not have the mental capability beyond a toddler…"

A little about Tiffany:
Hello! I'm Tiffany Angell. I've been blogging a little over 3 months and I'm really enjoying it. I just celebrated my 5 year wedding anniversary with the love of my life. We have 3 beautiful kids, Michael (4), Emily (3) and Sam (1). Being a 28 year old stay at home mom of 3 young kids, I don't have a lot of down time to write. But I've always enjoyed writing (even though I may not be very good at it). I write mostly about life. I enjoy God, my family and the company of good friends.
