Sneak Peak into a Whole New World!
Hey guys,
While AFTER THE RAIN is coming out in February, and the third Fire and Rain Book, NOTHING BUT SMOKE is out on submission, I’ve been working on a brand new story in a brand new world. I’m so excited that I keep sharing snippets here and there, and today I’ll post one here on the blog!
The working title is MARRY THE WIND, but I won’t tease you too much since lord only knows when this one will release? Maybe next August if all goes well.

New Bedford Dry Dock and Moorage occupied a rocky bluff on the southern coast of Massachusetts. But if it hadn’t been for the heavy Bah-ston accent on the guy who’d let Brick’s taxi past the gate, Brick wouldn’t have known he was anywhere near Cape Cod. Not a tree marred the dirt lots where boats piled one on top of another in metal stacks. And even the blue ocean on the horizon couldn’t cheer the landscape.
Here and there, shacks popped up, their doors hanging open and displaying rusty equipment reeking of gasoline. The oil-stained men who sat on crates smoking cigarettes seemed to be decaying at the same rate as the dilapidated trawlers that bobbed next to the single, seaweed-coated mooring.
Brick had never bothered to wonder where the boats from Lyme Cove Yacht Club went when they weren’t tied up at the club’s system of docks. Now he knew. They went to this graveyard, where they waited to be rescued the following June.

Fun fact: The very first house I lived in was across the street from a marina. So if I return again and again to writing seafairing stories, now you know why.
