Cancelling the release of Learning To Love.
As many of you now know, I’ve had to make the difficult decision to NOT RELEASE my debut novel Learning To Love.
This was such a difficult decision to make as I have devoted so much time and effort into writing and editing this book, but it’s also a decision that I am, ultimately, happy with as I know it is what is best for me.
Does anyone need any more proof that Goodreads is FUBAR??? Honest to fuck. I have an account, but I rarely go there because, truthfully, it’s so BIG it’s a little overwhelming, and I just don’t have the time. I’ve never really had an opinion on the whole bullying thing before, since I’m never there enough to evaluate it rationally, and while I read my reviews the unfavorable ones have never bothered me. But this is WAY beyond the pale. It’s far past time for GR to stop people from “reviewing” books they haven’t read, especially when apparently asking WTF that’s all about makes the more mean, small-minded folks out there tell the asker they ought to be raped. THAT OUGHT NOT TO BE FILED UNDER “FREE SPEECH”, GOODREADS! Duh. If people want to have a way to rank books they want to read or whatever, find another way to let them do that. At the very least, don’t allow readers/authors/whoever to tell ANYONE they should die or be raped or anything equally vile. That is bullying and it’s reprehensible that such a thing would be allowed.
Now bring on the backlash, trolls. I can use the exposure. (cynical, me?)
