I am in Oblivion by Suman Pokhrel

I am in Oblivion
by Suman Pokhrel

Unaware of my surrounding
unconscious I live,
for I am in oblivion.

It’s not my wish to walk intoxicated
to live for never is not my choice,
wishing to grab the life with nothingness,
wanting to erase the sigh of tiredness,
forgetting myself completely from my being,
why do I seek embrace of yours?
Do not ask me, I know not,
I am in oblivion.

A portion of life, every moment
gets torn out of me, hurting, and flees.
thinking it clung to me, then splintered away,
fearing, it fled, leaving life in dismay
searching for it tirelessly
why do I ache in this endless chase?
do not ask me; I do not know,
I am in oblivion.

(Original work written in February 2004 as बाँचिरहेँछु सधैँ बेहोशी मै [Banchirahenchhu Sadhain Behoshi Mai], in Nepali.
