If you’re looking to make changes but you’re not ready to completely embrace a new lifestyle we encourage you to make a start. Take one small step in the right direction. We would hope that these steps lead you to a plant based diet but everyone has to start somewhere.
Why not start with one meatless day? Add in plenty of dark leafy greens to fill your plate and keep you from falling back on unhealthy carbs such as french fries and bread. Get your carb fix from whole grain dishes like Marilu’s Rice and Rye recipe. Use it in a stir fry, add it to a salad for texture or use it to make your soup heartier.
RICE AND RYE
1 cup of brown rice
1 cup of rye (the whole grain not the flour)
4 cups of water
Bring water to a boil. Add rice and rye. Bring to a boil and simmer until liquid is absorbed.
