Bruce Springsteen, Thunder Road, Waste your summer praying in vain...

You can hide 'neath your covers And study your pain
Make crosses from your loversThrow roses in the rain
Waste your summer praying in vain For a saviour to rise from these streets
Well, I'm no hero, that's understoodAll the redemption I can offer, girl, is beneath this dirty hood
De allereerste plaat van Bruce heette trouwens "Greetings from Asbury Park New York". The Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle".
In making this drawing I was just wondering how I had to sketch someone who was praying in vain. Then it seemed like a great idea to place a typical Flemish chapel in front of a U.S. Route 66-like background. The buildings that you can see in the distance are dilapidated and are part of Asbury Park, the huge entertainment park in New York, where gave Bruce gave many performances in his early days . The first record of Bruce was called "Greetings from Asbury Park, New York." The same year also appeared his other record with the swinging title "The Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle". Both records were initially coolly received but are now valued. Rightly so, just listen to "New York City Serenade" on "The Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle".
