The Best Thing You Can Do To Prep

Because of trying times and the signs of those times, we hear more and more about preppers--people who are doing all they can to get prepared for a doomsday scenario--on the internet, on TV, and in our day-to-day interactions with others.
First, let me say that for those of who belong to Jesus, we have nothing to fear. If you've read the Book, you know the outcome: God wins!!!
Secondly, let me say that prepping is not necessarily a bad thing as long as it is done under the direction of God's Holy Spirit. Consider these verses:
Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest. ~Proverbs 6:6-8 (NIV)
“Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. ~Matthew 24:32-33 (NIV)
I could go through the usual internet list of what to do to prepare (get water, food, shelter, etc.), but far and above everything you can do, first and foremost everyone should make sure they're spiritually ready.
Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. ~Psalm 20:7 (NIV)
If your trust is in your bank account, your government, your food stash, your weapons, yourself-- ANYTHING besides God as your Savior and Lord!!--you're barking up the wrong tree. All through the Bible we see evidence of Almighty God working miraculous acts on behalf of His people. He doesn't change. He is our refuge!
Getting spiritually ready is for all of us. For those who have professed Him as Lord, we need to make sure that we're living the way He wants us to live, that we're in constant contact with our Creator, seeking Him and His ways.
For those who don't yet belong to Him, I urge you to seek after Him. Read and study His Word. Pray to Him and put your trust in Him. There are further helps for you in the sidebar of this blog. (A special word of caution needs to be said here: Don't think that we can use God as fire insurance. We must be sincere in seeking Him. He knows our hearts...)
Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. ~Ephesians 3:20-21 (NIV)
