So I'm not certain right now if I have one book coming out or two, this September. So I will let you ponder the question for me.
I have a book called Fortunately, the Milk coming out from Harper Children's on September the 17th. It's published in the US, Canada, and many such places.
It's illustrated by the brilliant Skottie Young.
This is what the cover looks like:

It's illustrated by the amazing Chris Riddell.
This is what the cover looks like:
(You cannot actually tell from this how astoundingly SHINY the cover is. Trust me. It is the shiniest cover you have ever seen.)
And I'm not really sure why there are two books. I know that different places and different publishers like different styles of illustration. And I am not grumbling, because I love Skottie's art, and I love Chris's art, and they are completely different -- in approach, in style, in storytelling.

Why is the milk in a bottle in the US, where milk almost never comes in bottles? Why is the milk in a carton in the UK, where milk actually does still turn up in bottles? Why does the dad in Chris Riddell's artwork look mysteriously sort of like me?
There are no answers to be found in this video of Chris Riddell drawing...
there ARE however, some answers, to all of your Fortunately, The Milk (...) questions here, in this video.

I got a reader of the version with the Skottie Young illustrations. It's fantastic! And I, too, thought the dad in the Chris Riddell drawing looked a lot like you. Perhaps he interpreted it as being you. In any case, it's a great book and I'll definitely be talking it up and hand-selling it when it comes out in the States!

I think the artwork for both of them have pros & cons.... a completist would want both!! XD ..possibly a little more attracted to the Searlesque illustrative style of Skottie Young, but the Chris Riddell cover has to me a hint of Dr Who about it that I find a little distracting[probably I see the bg as a "time vortex"?!!;)]....I am always influenced greatly by the illustrations so this is a tough choice to make.... best of luck with it,and I shall look forward to the possible future audiobook?[hint,hint!] .....:)<3
The Gaimanesque look of the character in the Riddell version was the first thing I noticed about it! If I only saw the US version I would be perfectly content with it, but I think maybe I fancy the UK cover a bit more. Sure to be a fun read whichever art one ends up with!

I'm getting both!Unfortunately, Brazilian book stores only sell the US version, so I'll need to get the UK version from the Book Depository or Amazon and wait a few weeks for it to arrive =/
Will there be a translated version with a Brazilian artist? I'd get that one too.

Same here... Since Brazil only sells the US versions (they're the most common ones at least) I'm waiting on book depository for the UK version.

At 1st I liked "Fortunately" cover best.......when I saw "Ridiculously Bestselling Author" above your name, that kind of clinched it for me. It sounds/looks more eye catching as well for the unfortunate few who haven't heard of you. Ludicrously sad, I know, but I just discovered your adult books myself (which I'd be EXTREMELY please with 2 of THOSE being released in September, btw)so I never knew your whole background until 6 months ago. That's why, if you were to release 1 only, I'd do Fortunately (unless there needs a reading order to make sense of things). I love the other Unfortunately illustrator's work as well, it sort of reminds me of "Where the Wild Things Are", for some reason. Anyways-these both look like interesting books, and I can't wait for another fabulous novel to come out. ASAP please. Tomorrow I'd be free to read a new Gaiman masterpiece actually :).Thanks!

There both very good, though I just don't see the need for two seperate and somehow very different books. Either way. My family is waiting with baited breath. Can't wait.

About the milk... I live in the US and milk is delivered and sold in bottles as well as plastic. I am recommending you now as the "Ridiculously Bestselling Author".
I got a kick out of your comments here... adventures in book publishing (I'm a bit too fond of ellipses, myself). I haven't read the text so I can't say which cover best represents the work, but I have to say that my American eyes prefer the American cover. I'm partial to the bit of Theodore Geisel I see in the balloon's controls. Keep up the good work and best of luck in the future.
