I've just read the entire 57-page PDF that outlines +Elon Musk's concept for open-sourced Hyperloop.

If I've got this right:

✔ The $6 billion price tag is 1/10th the cost of the proposed California High Speed Rail
✔  $20 one-way tickets are 1/5th the cost of of a ticket on the CHSR
✔ 35-minute transit time is 1/5th the transit time in the CHSR
✔ Cool factor of air bearings literally immeasurable.

Keep in mind that I'm not a [mechanical|electrical|civil|train|genetic|planatary] engineer, so I'm easily swayed by a man who built a private company THAT GOES TO SPACE!

So yeah, #hyperloop  sounds great to me! Read all about it, and try not to puke in the comments.
