Ten Things I Learned at Bookbash...

So I know it's been a while since Bookbash, but I never did a wrap up post, so I'm doing it now, okay? You cool with that? I hope so:

1. You need to have a banner at your table, or else people won't be able to find you. EVERYONE else had a banner of some sort with their name on it. Why it didn't occur to me to have one beforehand, I don't know. I have since bought a banner, so look for this at my events:

2. In that same category, you need business cards with your name and your information on them. Another duh moment.
3. When Karina Halle says, "let's do a shot!" don't let her order you Jameson's. You won't be able to do it in one go and then you'll choke and sputter at the table and everyone will laugh at you.
4. When Karina Halle offers to buy you champagne, don't say no. Just go with it.
5. Don't stay in your room and watch Dance Moms marathons on Lifetime. Go down to the bar. EVERYONE is at the bar.
6. When you go down to the bar, don't wear your pajamas, no makeup and your glasses. You will be photographed and everyone else will look great and you'll be wearing a Buffy t-shirt and looking like you just rolled out of bed, even though you did.
7. ALWAYS be photograph ready. Have your faces and poses ready at all times. Especially your duck face.

8. Decide what you're going to sign in people's books before the morning of the event. Pick something short, because your hand will be tired and your already bad handwriting will get even worse (I went with xoxo and my name).
9. When you meet Colleen Hoover the first time, don't just stare at her mutely. This will lead to awkward silence and you having to run away.
10. Authors are FABULOUS people, and nearly all of them are actual, REAL people that you can talk to and will talk back, even if you're freaking out in your mind (OMG, I'm talking to KATJA MILAY!).  So stop treating them like they're magical unapproachable unicorns and grow a pair.
