Writing a Series by Lucy FelthouseWriting a series was just one of those things that I knew I’d get around to eventually. Like writing a novel. But I held off for a long time because of time restraints, and also because I thought the idea was scary. It would involve commitment and consistency. Luckily, though, I knew I could achieve those things if I put my mind to it.And so the A Taste Of... series was born. A Taste of London gave a bit of background on Ryan and Kristian, then A Taste of Paris took that and spun a bunch more adventures out. I had lots of fun giving the boys sexy time with a variety of girls, and I started a list when writing the first book which helped out with the consistency issue.Now, my list contains names and descriptions of all the girls involved in the books, as well as where the boys met them. That way, I won’t accidentally have girls with the same names, or wrongly mention a girl and the wrong place, or something.Also, because each adventure, each city is pretty much self-contained, I didn’t have to worry too much about getting something wrong, unless I was referencing the past, in which case I checked out the previous books.As for the commitment, because the books are long short stories, they don’t take a massive amount of time to write and I can squeeze them in between other things I’m writing/working on. However, I’m determined now to write about Ryan and Kristian’s gap year in its entirety. And who knows, if the books do well, I might even continue with their University adventures.
