There’s always someone worse off than you…

If I had a pound (or a dollar) for every time I heard this gem, I’d be rich. I’d be able to pay my editor, illustrator and proofreader without batting an eyelid. Seriously, it’s the most useless, insensitive thing someone can say when you’re feeling down.
