Well. It itches.
Red Sonja #1 (2013)
This scene is played a little bit for laughs, but it also makes a point about what society wants from warrior women once the battle is over.
It’s based partly on Joan of Arc’s sad story.
"Thanks for saving the day! Now can you go back to being the person we want you to be instead of, you know, the person you actually are?"
Or
"Looks like they’re going to kill her. Should we help her out?"
"Nah. We don’t need her anymore and gratitude isn’t a thing I know."
That said, I thought it was sweet of her to comply out of respect for her hosts’ culture. Or was it for the sake of her new fangirls, the Slayers of Very Large and Fierce Lagomorphs?
I would say it’s mostly for the hosts.
But it’s just BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARELY possible that she doesn’t mind a fancy gown.
Once a year, maybe.
For an hour or so.
With her hair done fancy.
But you’d better not TELL anyone.
